Obituary for Betty E. Hill

Betty E.  Hill
Betty Elaine Hill, 91, a resident of Felton Manor in Cartersville, passed away on November 8, 2016.

Mrs. Hill was born in Friedens, Pennsylvania on July 25, 1925, the daughter of Nora Shultz and James Taylor. Holding several different jobs in her early years, she retired from Rand McNally and Company in Versailles, Kentucky after 21 years of service. She moved to Cartersville in 2003 and was a member of Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, the Marco Sunday School Class, and the Primetimers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas E. Hill of Versailles, Kentucky, and her son-in-law, Sam C. Smith of Cartersville. Her mother, interestingly died on Presidential Election Day, on November 8, 1988.

Surviving are her three daughters, Rev. Carol Wendel (Gary) of Bottineau, North Dakota, Cathy Hill of Asheville, North Carolina, and Connie Smith of Cartersville;
grandchildren, Sarah Wendel, Aaron Wendel, Casey Hill, Carey Carpenter (Bill), Ginny Weaver (Season), Taylor Smith (Janice), and Drew Smith (Tasha); great-grandchildren, Will Carpenter, Whitney Carpenter, Smith Weaver, Emory Weaver, Kamryn Smith, Brenlee Smith, Sam Smith and Chase Ashworth; Tim Forbes; her best friend, Loretta Fishel; and her granddog, Oscar.

At Mrs. Hill’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. For those who wish, contributions may be made in her honor to Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church Marco Sunday School Class.

Betty’s family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Roger Hiser, the loving professionals of Amedisys Hospice, and the staff of both The Fite Living Centre and Felton Manor Personal Care Facilities for their compassionate care of Betty over the last eight years.
